Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Caitlin Crowley earned a two-set win over Kaylan O'Donovan at No. 4 singles and teamed up with Susan Ma for an 8-4 win in doubles action to lead the UAlbany tennis team to its second 4-3 win in as many days, as the Great Danes defeated Marist on the road.
Crowley and Ma defeated O'Donovan and Erin McCarthy at No. 2 doubles, while Sarah Iannone and Melissa Coughlin combined for an 8-6 win over Jeannie Lukin and Retta Byron to seal the doubles point for the Great Danes. Marist's Kelsey Raynor and Joanna Sun defeated Livia Gherman and Laine Mackey, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles.
In singles action, Marist was victorious in the top three positions. Raynor defeated Gherman, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 at the top position, while McCarthy posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mackey at No. 2. Sun earned the third point for the Red Foxes in the third singles match with a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 win over Ma. However, UAlbany was able to earn the win in the match with wins at fourth, fifth and sixth singles. Along with Crowley's victory, Iannone recorded a comeback win over Lukin with scores of 5-7, 7-6 (4) and 7-5, while Coughlin posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Byron at No. 6 singles.
UAlbany is now 6-1 in match play after winning all three matches over the weekend. The Great Danes will return to action on Sunday, March 28, taking on conference foe UMBC.
