Providence, R.I. ? Freshman Rebecca Lee netted her second goal of the season, but the University at Albany women's soccer team took a 4-1 loss to Brown University on Sunday, Sept. 7. The Bears used three different goal scorers in the final 45 minutes to break a 1-1 deadlock between the teams at halftime and record their first victory.

            Brown (1-1) got on the scoreboard first when Kate Scott took a shot through a scramble of players in the 11th minute. However, the Great Danes were able to net the equalizer just one minute later when Lee fired a shot from the top of the box which beat a diving Brenna Hogue and landed in the back of the net. Katie Grant and Ashley Tirabassi were credited with assists on the play, and it was also Grant's first career point. The teams went to recess with UAlbany (2-3) holding a 9-6 advantage in shots.

            The Bears scored two goals in a four-minute span and scored again late in the game to seal the win. Lindsay Cunningham tapped in what would stand as the game winner in the 56th minute, and Marybeth Lesbirel scored just three minutes later to double the team's lead. Scott then followed up with another insurance goal in the 78th minute to close out the scoring for both teams.

            UAlbany's Cate Crenson stopped five of the nine shots she faced on net. Brown's Hogue earned the win after saving seven of the eight shots she saw on goal.

            The Great Danes will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face crosstown-rival Siena at 4 p.m.
