Score: #15 Maryland 91, UAlbany 58

Location:  XFINITY Center in College Park, Md.

Records: UAlbany (0-1); Maryland (1-0)

Short Story: A career night for reshirt-senior captain Jessica Féquière from behind the arc is not enough as UAlbany falls at #15 Maryland 91-58 to open the 2017-18 season.

Coach Mac: “We play this really tough early opponent because we hope to face an opponent like this at the end of the year.  What we learned is we have to be a little bit grittier and tougher.  We’re known for rebounding, but I think there is a lot we can learn from the way Maryland rebounds the ball.  All-in-all I thought Maryland played really hard.  We played hard in the first and fourth quarters, but lapsed a little bit in the second and third.”

Maryland stormed back in the second quarter, outscoring UAlbany 30-4 to take a 44-18 lead at halftime.  The Terrapins capitalized on offensive rebound and turnover opportunities, scoring 13 second chance points and 19 points off of turnovers in the first half.  For UAlbany, Féquière hit three shots from behind the arc, one make shy of her career best.  Senior Tiana-Jo Carter recorded three blocked shots in the first half.
