LOUISVILLE, K.Y. -- University at Albany softball player Liz Snow has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Region Second Team, announced by the organization Thursday. This is is Snow's second selection, receiving this honor in the 2016 season as well.
Snow, a senior catcher from Long Beach Calif., currently leads the nation in doubles per game (.5), and is second in total doubles (21) and slugging percentage (.991). In the America East Conference she leads in batting average (.438), doubles (21), total bases (111), slugging percentage (.991), and on base percentage (.562). Starting in 43 games this spring, Snow boasted a .992 fielding percentage behind the plate.
The 2017 America East Player of the Year and a first-team all conference selection, Snow has rewritten three UAlbany career records in her four years as a Great Dane. She has broken the program's career RBIs, doubles, and home runs record.
Snow led the Great Danes to an America East Championship this year and a spot in the Tuscaloosa NCAA Regional. This is the senior's second championship and appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning in 2014, her freshman year.
Snow is one of 667 student-athletes from 175 programs that received 2017 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades. The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second, and third team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2016 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
The 2017 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 31, via NFCA.org.
