UAlbany Men's Lacrosse Pair Earns America East Weekly Awards

ALBANY, N.Y. – With UAlbany men’s lacrosse taking down Vermont in the conference opener, two Great Danes picked up America East weekly awards.

JD Colarusso was chosen as the America East Defensive Player of the Week while TD Ierlan was selected as the league’s rookie of the week.

Colarusso earns his second America East weekly honor of the year while Ierlan gets his first.  As a team, UAlbany has six weekly awards this season, including three separate weeks with two awards each.

The two helped UAlbany win the America East opener at Vermont 17-6 over the weekend.  With Colarusso in the cage and Ierlan at the faceoff-X, UAlbany did not allow more than two goals in any quarter.

Colarusso had a strong day in the cage, saving 16 shots in 52:03 and allowing just five goals.  The redshirt junior had a 76.2% save rate in the game.

Ierlan took nearly all faceoffs for the Great Danes against Vermont, winning 64% at the X.  The freshman also grabbed 10 ground balls and picked up an assist.

Colarusso, Ierlan and the Great Danes will get set to play Canisius in Buffalo tomorrow at 4 p.m.
