Claxton started her season with finishing second in the 4x100m relay at the Northeast Challenge and first in the Spring Classic. She continued her season finishing first place in the 200m run at the America East Outdoor Challenge and placing second in the 400m run at the America East  Outdoor Challenge. Claxton concluded her season with finishing ninth in the 400m IH at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

2014-15:

Puerto Rico

After Claxton’s collegiate season ended, she began competing on the Puerto Rico national team as a member of the 4x400m relay with Olympian Carol Rodriguez, St. John’s junior Pariis Garcia, and Indiana State sophomore Alethia Marrero. Garcia placed second behind Claxton in the 400m at ECAC Outdoor Championships, and Marrero placed fifth at NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800m. The team first competed at the Central American Championships in Nicaragua. Claxton split 53 en route to a team finish of 3:35.71 to take first place overall. The team next competed at the Pan American Games in Toronto. The quartet ran 3:32.04 in the preliminary round to qualify for finals in eighth place. Claxton split 52.9. In the finals, claxton split 53.1 en route to a team finish of 3:33.16, good for sixth place.

Claxton returned home for the beginning of her outdoor season, competing in the Spring Break Classic in Puerto Rico. She won the 400m in 54.05 and placed second in the 200m in a season-best 24.29. Claxton next competed at the Raleigh Relays, where she placed second in the 400m in 55.30. She also competed in her first ever 400m hurdles, placing third in 1:01.50. Claxton won the 400m at Connecticut’s Northeast Challenge in 55.48, and placed third on both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. She earned three victories at UAlbany’s Spring Classic, in the 400m hurdles in 1:01.72, and in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Claxton competed in three events at the Penn Relays. She started with the 400m hurdles, where she placed third overall, setting a school record of 58.52. She then earned matching second place finishes on both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, competing in the ECAC division for both events. Claxton competed in four events at the America East Outdoor Championships, earning three victories. She won the 400m in 53.35, a new school record. She won the 400m hurdles in 58.51, lowering her existing school record. Both mark were also championship meet records. Claxton’s third victory was in the 4x100m relay, where she helped her team finish in 46.08. Finally, Claxton placed second as a member of the 4x400m relay, splitting 55.3 in 3:44.46. At ECAC Outdoor Championships, Claxton won the 400m in a season-best 53.07. Her collegiate season ended at NCAA East Preliminary Championships, where she placed 24th in the 400m in 53.98, after running 53.42 in the preliminary round.

Claxton’s first meet as a Great Dane was the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge, where she won the 400m in 55.07. Her time was a new indoor school record. She also placed fourth as a member of the 4x400m relay, splitting 55.5 en route to a 3:49.14 team finish. Claxton ran her only 500m of the season at Cornell’s Upstate Challenge, winning the event in 1:14.22. She also placed second on the 4x400m relay, splitting 55.7 en route to a 3:48.53 team finish, a time which would convert to 3:45.54. At the Armory Track Invitational, Claxton lowered her school record in the 400m to 54.85, placing sixth overall. She also placed 13th on the 4x400m relay, splitting 54.2 en route to a team finish of 3:48.62. After setting a season-best mark of 24.60 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational, Claxton competed in three events at the America East Indoor Championships. She placed first in the 400m, lowering her own school record again to 54.17, placed fourth in the 200m in 24.74, and won as a member of the 4x400m relay, splitting 55.4 en route to a team finish of 3:47.43. Claxton placed fourth in the 400m at Boston University’s Last Chance Meet, finishing with another school record time of 53.59. The time also set a new Puerto Rican indoor national record, surpassing the previous mark of 54.17 set by Olympian Carol Rodriguez in 2012. Additionally, Claxton competed head-to-head against American Olympian Francena McCroroy in her race. In her final meet of the season, ECAC Indoor Championships, Claxton won the 400m in 53.67, after running a season-best time of 53.49 in the preliminary round. She also placed second as a member of the 4x400m relay, splitting 53.76 en route to a team finish and school record time of 3:41.11.
