Baseball Opens America East Play At UMBC

The last two weeks have seen eight games on the University at Albany baseball team's (7-6) schedule cancelled due to the lingering effects of Winter Storm Stella. The Great Danes were able to make up four of the eight games lost in that stretch. This weekend, the team will look for a return to normalcy with the beginning of the 2017 conference schedule, a three-game series at UMBC.

Another impromptu schedule change for the University at Albany baseball team (7-6) saw the Great Danes pay a quick visit to Brown (4-6) on Tuesday for one game in place of the doubleheader against Saint Peter's the team lost due to unplayable field conditions. UAlbany fell by a score of 13-5, bringing the Danes' three-game winning streak to a close.

Sacks, McLean Highlight Baseball Weekly Awards

The University at Albany baseball team (7-5) landed two players on the America East Week 5 awards list, the conference offices announced Tuesday. Kyle Sacks was named Player of the Week and Kenny McLean was named Pitcher of the Week. They shared their awards this week with UMass Lowell's John Polichetti, who was named Rookie of the Week.

The Great Danes won both games of Saturday's doubleheader, bringing their season record back over .500.
