Key Stats
  • Jada Colbert scored her third goal of the season
  • Brooke Pickett scored the first goal of her career
  • Pickett made her first start as a Great Dane
  • Cassandra Coster recorded three saves
  • UAlbany narrowly outshot Binghamton 13-11
Head Coach Leigh Howard: "It's hard to put into words how big this win was for us.  To beat a very strong Binghamton team twice in a matter of four days shows a lot about this group and how hard they're willing to fight.  Jada's goal to put us ahead was an incredible individual effort and something she has deserved all season long.  Likewise, Brooke scoring her first career goal in the playoffs to give us a bit of security is something that she's earned and we couldn't be happier for her.  We couldn't be prouder of how the team responded to the adversity we have faced this past week and we are excited to hit the road once again come Thursday."

How it Happened
  • Binghamton threatened early, drawing a corner kick in the fifth minute.  The serve from the corner found traffic in the six-yard box, and two Bearcats' shots were turned away by the UAlbany defense before they reached goalkeeper Cassandra Coster.
  • Jada Colbert, in the 11th minute, ripped a shot from beyond the top left corner of the Binghamton box.  Binghamton goalkeeper Haylee Poltorak retreated and punched the shot just over the crossbar, saving a goal, and giving the Great Danes a corner kick.
  • Binghamton threatened again in the 13th minute, when a deep shot from Victoria McKnight fell short, directly to Maya Anand, who flicked a shot backwards over her head and off the crossbar.
  • A miscommunication in the 33rd minute in the UAlbany defensive line followed by a misclear led to Anand having a wide-open shot on net, but her attempt fell just high off the crossbar.  The rebound landed at the feet of Alex Marsteller, who's shot was blocked.
  • With 10 seconds left in the first half, Olivia Piraino received a pass in the Binghamton box, and her turn-around shot fell into Poltorak's arms to end the half.
  • Colbert broke on a solo breakaway through the Binghamton defense, cut to her left around Poltorak, and scored the first goal of the game in the 61st minute to put UAlbany up 1-0.
  • In the 75th minute, Brooke Pickett, making her first career start, forced a turnover deep in Binghamton's defensive zone, spun clear, and scored for the first time in her career as a Great Dane to double UAlbany's lead.
  • Colbert instigated another solo breakaway off a blocked shot from Binghamton's Stefania Piantadosi, but her attempt soared high, leaving UAlbany's advantage at two.
  • UAlbany held firm for the remaining eight minutes of play and won by the same score, 2-0.  It was the second game in a row UAlbany had defeated Binghamton via shutout.
