No. 18/20 UAlbany Football Continues To Climb National Ranks
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Improving to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the
Northeast Conference over the weekend with a win over Sacred Heart, the
University at Albany football team jumped four slots in The Sports Network
Top-25 to No. 20 and two spots in the FCS Coaches Poll to No. 18, representing
the highest the Great Danes have ever been ranked in both polls in Division I
history.
Last week, UAlbany appeared in the pair of Top-25 lists for
the second time in program history and first time since 2006. However, this week
marks the first time the Great Danes have stayed in both polls for consecutive
weeks.
A national panel of sports information and media relations
directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries select the Top 25 for
The Sports Network, while the FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting
panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate
Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association
(AFCA) and is administered by the Southern Conference.
No. 18/20 UAlbany looks to keep its five-game win-streak
afloat when the Great Danes play host to Wagner College this Saturday at 1:00
